Obopay's security and compliance procedures are regularly audited by industry leading financial services providers, mobile operators, third party auditors and state regulators. Obopay is a licensed Money Transmitter and is registered with FinCen. As such we have an active Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and transaction fraud detection program. We also maintain Money Transmission licenses in all states required. You can see details about our state licenses here.

Being a money transmitter allows Obopay to process interbank payments across payment networks, and to integrate through debit network connections. It also enables Obopay to make available to its bank partners unique services like Get Paid by Obopay which leverage money transfers to enable payment card acceptance.

Obopay's Treasury Department has active programs to monitor transactions and file required suspicious activity reports (SARs), and provide cooperation with bank fraud and AML departments.

Obopay is also a Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS) Level 1 processor and maintains systems and data in two SAS70 Type II data centers. The centers are located in separate US geographies to ensure redundancy in offering the service. Obopay also performs regular disaster recovery testing and maintains service level agreements with partners to ensure high quality services for our banks.

Mobile Money for Bank payments are also protected against unauthorized transactions using multi-factor authentication security per FFIEC guidance. Additionally, Obopay provides the capability to protect against loss due to fraud from payments made using our service. The service leverages our risk management tools for verification and authentication of users of the system, of the funding sources that they interact with and of the devices from which they transact.
